Colt Data Centre Services (Colt DCS), a global provider of hyperscale and large enterprise data center solutions, has announced the opening of a major data center in Osaka Keihanna which marks the company’s expansion strategy. Additionally, this site will meet the needs of the company’s local and global customers who are looking to expand further in the APAC region.
Colt DCS’s Inzai campus, which has three data centers with a combined capacity of 50MW and is 97% filled, provided the foundation for the design of the Osaka Keihanna data center. The most recent opening in Osaka Keihanna is one of the biggest data centers in Japan, with 42,000m2 of space and a 45.9MW intended capacity, of which 75% has already been committed.
In order to reduce environmental effects for Colt DCS and its clients, the Osaka Keihanna data center uses cutting-edge cooling technology. This is in keeping with the organization’s larger goal of reaching global net zero emissions by 2045 and the company’s commitment to be a catalyst for change in addressing challenges related to climate change on a global scale.
Moreover, by offering carrier-neutral connectivity services, the Osaka Keihanna data center will enable customers to work with the providers of their choice. Osaka Keihanna is a compelling option since it is situated in a region with a very low risk of natural catastrophes, has excellent connectivity options, is conveniently accessible to consumers, and is connected to all the facilities required to run a fully functional data center facility.
Colt DCS will be able to advance its hyperscale strategy in Japan with the help of the facility. Colt DCS already has 100MW of IT capacity under management in Japan with growth of more than 150MW projected with the inauguration of Osaka Keihana.
Japan is now one of the world’s leading tech hubs and continues to grow at a vast pace Following early government technology investment. In particular, Osaka has developed into a significant hub for business and technological firms, which has increased data usage throughout the region.
Customers of Colt DCS have flocked to this area as a result of the boom in technology investment, especially those who want to spread out their mission-critical operations across several locations in the country.
Earlier this year, some data center operators have expanded and planned to expand in the Osaka region; MC Digital Realty, a 50/50 joint venture between Mitsubishi Corporation and Digital Realty, have launched KIX13, the fourth building on the 23,000sqm Osaka data center campus.
Meanwhile, OPTAGE, a digital infrastructure and telecommunication company in Japan, has announced its plans to build its fifth data center in Osaka, Japan named ‘OPTAGE Sonezaki Data Center’.
