Singapore-headquartered data center platform DayOne has today purchased 78.80 acres of land in Sepang for the price of RM617.8 million (US$ 152.8 million) from property developer, Mah Sing Group Berhad, to develop a data center. The transaction was sealed through WG Malaysia X Sdn Bhd (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dayone Data Hub II Sdn Bhd, itself a subsidiary of DayOne) and Southville City Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mah Sing.

The purchase price was paid in cash with the completion date expected in 2H2027.

The deal involves three parcels of freehold vacant land which forms part of the 428.84-acre Southville City township which Mah Sing plans to unlock to support its future growth including itself pivoting into the digital infrastructure sector as a second growth engine.

“The disposal is intended to support Mah Sing’s broader digital infrastructure strategy and the continued development of Mah Sing DC Hub @ Southville City; and provide the Group with greater flexibility to progressively participate further up the digital infrastructure value chain, including enabling infrastructure, core-and-shell facilities and ownership of income-generating digital infrastructure assets alongside experienced operators,” the firm said in a Bursa exchange announcement. Property development remains the group’s core activity and primary source of income.

Completion of the sale is subject to several conditions including the issuance of a new title to the land, approvals from the Data Centre Task Force and PLANMalaysia, among others.
