Alibaba Cloud, the cloud computing arm of China’s internet giant Alibaba, has announced the launch of its third data center in Japan to meet growing client demand for digital transformation.
In 2016, Alibaba Cloud debuted its first data center in Japan. A second one was launched there in 2019. The new data center, which is based in Tokyo, aims to provide Japanese customers with a comprehensive range of cloud computing goods and services, including storage, networking, and elastic computing.
According to Unique Song, country manager of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence in Japan, the launch, which was announced at a press conference in Tokyo, highlights our ongoing dedication to meeting the needs of Japanese customers in terms of digital transformation.
The company claims that with the addition of the new data center, Alibaba Cloud now has a network of 86 availability zones spread over 28 different regions of the world.
According to a report published in June by the global research and advisory firm Gartner, Alibaba Cloud came in third place behind Amazon and Microsoft in the global infrastructure as a service (IaaS) market in 2021 with a share of 9.5 percent.
