Novva Data Centers, modern data center provider, has revealed intentions to build a new facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada. The construction of the 275,000 square foot, 100 MW, $400 million North Las Vegas data center started in October 2021 and is scheduled to open in late 2023.
The 20-acre complex where the data center will be situated will be Novva’s third location, joining its other facilities in West Jordan, Utah, and Colorado Springs, Colorado.
According to Wes Swenson, founder and CEO of Novva Data Centers, due to its closeness to California and other markets as well as the availability of numerous renewable energy options, North Las Vegas is the perfect location for a data center. Thus, it is a fantastic compliment to their existing data center facilities in the west.
This also provides them with another opportunity to put their water-free cooling technology into use, which will save 150 to 200 million gallons of water annually. Additionally, they intend to start using atmospheric water generation in 2024 for landscape purposes.
Moreover, Nevada tax exemptions, which were authorized in the summer of 2022, will also be advantageous to the facility. Renewable energy will be used to construct the new North Las Vegas facility, which will duplicate Novva’s distinctive “wholocation” experience.
Wholocation is a combination of wholesale scale and retail colocation that enables it to accommodate clients of any size and scalability requirements, from those needing 1 to 1,000+ cabinets.
According to North Las Vegas Mayor John Lee, Novva’s new data center will assist North Las Vegas serve as a growing hub for international brands and cutting-edge industries while also luring top businesses to their community.
“Novva’s track record of building thoughtful, sustainable data centers proves they will be good stewards of local resources while bringing major value as North Las Vegas builds upon its reputation as a business hub.” said John Lee.
A recent growth equity investment, which was disclosed earlier this year, allowed for the construction of the new facility. In addition to this newest location in Las Vegas, Novva intends to grow across the country and anticipates providing 1,000 MW of designed data center capacity by 2027 at many important, as-yet-unnamed locales.
Furthermore, robotics, water-free high-density cooling, containment, renewable energy in collaboration with NV Energy, and a fully owned on-premises substation will all be included in the data center.
