Singapore-based digital infrastructure platform DayOne last week signed Indonesia’s largest Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with PT PLN Batam for about 511 MVA, equivalent to 450 MW, to power its second hyperscale data center in Batam, the firm announced in a press statement. The signing ceremony included Memoranda of Understanding on connectivity and electrical infrastructure services for DayOne Kabil Industrial Tech Park (KITP), its new data center campus. Power supply will be delivered in phases between 2026 and 2027.

Located in Kabil Integrated Industrial Estate (KIIE), Batam, the DayOne campus supports cloud and AI workloads across Asia Pacific, similar to its flagship campus in Nongsa Digital Park (NDP).

Jamie Khoo, Chief Executive Officer of DayOne, said: “This expansion marks a significant milestone in our strategy to build one of Asia’s leading digital infrastructure platforms. Our continued expansion in Batam, from NDP to KITP, reflects the growing importance of the island within our broader regional platform, including our proprietary SIJORI model connecting Singapore, Johor and Batam into an integrated, cross-border data center platform in Southeast Asia. The signing of Indonesia’s largest data center PPA with PLN Batam further strengthens our ability to deliver large-scale, high-performance infrastructure capacity to meet the rising demand for cloud and advanced computing across Asia Pacific.”

Kwin Fo, President Director of PT PLN Batam, said: “We are proud to support the development of one of the largest data center projects in Indonesia through the provision of reliable and scalable power infrastructure. This collaboration reflects the strong partnership between PLN Batam, BP Batam, and DayOne, and reinforces Batam’s growing role as a regional digital hub in Southeast Asia.”

Amsakar Achmad, Chairman of BPc Batam, said: “BP Batam is committed to fostering a conducive investment environment through streamlined regulatory processes and the provision of integrated infrastructure. The entry of DayOne’s large-scale data center project demonstrates that Batam is well-positioned to become a leading digital hub.”

Batam features high-voltage power infrastructure and established subsea cable connectivity as well as proximity to Singapore with lower costs for large-scale developments. It is emerging as a key data center hub within SIJORI complemented with strong government support.
