Guizhou Province, the major big data hub in southwest China, plans to invest 20 billion yuan (or roughly 2.9 billion dollars) in big data-related initiatives in 2023.
At a provincial big data conference on Monday, Guizhou Province announced plans to launch more than 200 digital economy projects this year.
Jing Yaping, director of the provincial big data development authority, stated at the conference that the province will hasten the construction of 5G, computing networks, data centers, and other forms of next-generation digital infrastructure.
According to the plan, Guizhou will have 800,000 data center racks, 4 million servers, and more than 180,000 5G base stations by the year 2025.
Guizhou Province, which was designated as the first national big data comprehensive pilot zone in the nation, has been promoting the big data industry as a cornerstone of its high-quality social and economic growth.
Guizhou’s GDP is projected to increase by almost 6% to reach 2.2 trillion yuan in 2023, with the digital economy accounting for about 40% of that total.
