Web Werks to build 2nd DC in Mumbai

Data centre provider Web Werks, has acquired a land parcel to build a standalone Greenfield data center in Navi Mumbai with an investment of Rs 400 crore.
This new standalone 1,00,000 sq.ft. structure will be a well-equipped, next-generation and an Uptime Tier 3 designed data center with 12.5MW of power and rich interconnectivity, the company said.
The facility will benefit from Web Werks being SAP Certified and incorporate Global Go-Green concepts. The data center is expected to be ready for service by the mid of 2022, it added.
This development comes close on the heels of Web Werks’ recent strategic relationship with NYSE-listed Iron Mountain, wherein the latter will invest $150 million in equity into Web Werks over the next two years.
Further, Iron Mountain anticipates being the majority investor in the venture after the investment period.
The acquisition of land parcel will enable Web Werks to accelerate its expansion across Indian cities and build capacity to cater to a market which is seeing a rapid growth in hyperscalers.

Web Werks operates three Tier 3, carrier-neutral data centers, in Mumbai, Pune and Delhi NCR. This investment enables Web Werks to immediately expand its operations in its three existing markets and subsequently expand into Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai.
Iron Mountain Data Centers is making this investment to support its existing hyperscale, network, content and enterprise customers looking to expand and scale in the rapidly growing pan-India region.
With a combined footprint of 225,000 square feet, Web Werks houses 6 worldwide Points of Presence (POPs), provides 4 megawatts (MW) of capacity, supports 6,000 servers and supports 850+ clients.
Web Werks also provides access to a robust, neutral interconnection ecosystem of carrier, content and cloud providers including over 160 Internet Service Providers (ISP) and 6 Internet Exchanges.
International Property consultants Savills has facilitated the land transaction deal for Web Werks.
