The commercial introduction of 5G for fixed home internet and mobile in Oman was initially announced by Omantel. With improved network coverage, a variety of offers, and solid partnerships, the corporation is still strengthening its 5G leadership in the country.
Omantel has said that it has now provided actual 5G speeds to the populous areas in the governorates of Muscat, Al Batinah South, and Al Batinah North. This comes after the company made significant progress in spearheading the 5G deployment in Oman
“We have successfully rolled out a large number of new 5G sites in the populated areas of Muscat, Al Batinah North and Al Batinah South governorates. These new sites will serve home internet and mobile internet alike, and users will get an optimum speed even at the edge of the coverage range… We managed to ensure a fast and steady connection everywhere within the coverage range, even for mobile users, through smaller 5G cells that connect to the main tower” said Aladdin Baitfadhil, Chief Commercial Officer at Omantel.
Similar to this, Omantel has made enormous efforts to bring out 5G sites in inhabited locations all throughout the country. Due to the huge demand for an ultra-fast internet connection, the company has targeted other locations, including Salalah..
Baitfadhil further said that Omantel has the most extensive network coverage in Oman and is a key component of the 5G ecosystem. With its enormous network capacity and extremely low latency, they envision 5G as the major enabler for Industry 4.0 technologies like IoT, Cloud Computing, Big Data & Analytics, Augmented Reality, and Artificial Intelligence. At Omantel, their job is to set the stage for its partners in the public and private sectors to take advantage of the expanding opportunities brought on by technological advancements.
“Due to demographic and geographic factors, 5G is the way forward to ensure a high-speed and low-latency internet connection in Al Batinah North and Al-Batinah South governorates and other locations where “fiber” is technically challenging and financially unviable. Therefore, we are keen on enhancing our 5G footprint in Al-Batinah and elsewhere to build on our main role of connecting the society within Oman and with the world to the utmost level,” he noted.
A smooth internet experience is provided by 5G, which raises the bar for mobile and home services. Omantel has expanded its service offerings far beyond those of traditional telecom providers, and it is quickly being known as a hip brand that fits in with consumer lifestyles.
