Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have signed a memorandum of intent (MOI) to establish a Joint Innovation Centre (JIC) at IMDA’s PIXEL Innovation Hub, a 28,000-square-foot innovation space for corporations and start-ups to learn about the newest technology and to brainstorm, experiment, and create user-centric digital products.
To be ready by mid-2023, JIC will support enterprises and start-ups, as well as scale the growth of Singapore-based companies under IMDA Accreditation and IMDA Spark programmes by providing them access to the latest AWS technologies and dedicated support from the AWS Partner Network (APN).
JIC will support businesses and start-ups as well as scale the growth of Singapore-based companies under the IMDA Accreditation and IMDA Spark programs, by giving them access to the most recent AWS technology and devoted assistance from the AWS Partner Network (APN), to be prepared by the middle of 2023.
Under the terms of the MOI, IMDA Accredited and IMDA Spark companies will profit from tech advisory and a sandbox environment supported by both AWS and the IMDA Technical Acceleration Lab initiative to conduct proof-of-concept projects with clients and prospects from the public and private sectors in Singapore.
Moreover, the AWS-IMDA JIC @ PIXEL will be the first JIC for AWS in Southeast Asia and act as an extension of both IMDA’s PIXEL and Open Innovation Platform (OIP) projects as well as AWS Singapore’s Cloud Innovation Centre.
According to IMDA, through workshops on technological education and innovation challenges, as well as prospects for business growth and scale through AWS and IMDA’s business networks, the center will offer corporations and start-ups assistance in driving innovation.
It will also give businesses a platform to demonstrate how they use technology, as well as consulting services utilizing Amazon’s “working backwards” innovation process, which enables businesses to approach a problem from the perspective of the final result and then quickly implement the desired solution.
JIC will assist clients in creating solutions that make use of cloud, robotics, augmented reality/virtual reality (AR/VR), data and artificial intelligence (AI), and internet of things (IoT).
Beyond JIC activities, co-innovation labs and events will improve access to a bigger innovation community for businesses and start-ups from the networks of AWS and IMDA.
Furthermore, IMDA also stated that together with AWS, they will organize innovation events at PIXEL every year, the first event will be a week-long regional festival of innovation in the first half of 2023.
According to Elsie Tan, AWS’s Singapore country manager, worldwide public sector, they appreciate the caliber and development of the businesses participating in the IMDA Accreditation and IMDA Spark programs, and they are eager to work with IMDA to launch the AWS-IMDA Joint Innovation Center at PIXEL.
For Justine Ang, IMDA’s Assistant Chief Executive, In order to further accelerate the growth of their Singapore-based businesses, they look forward to extending AWS’s resources and networks to those businesses through their IMDA Accreditation and IMDA Spark programs.
