LG CNS, a South Korean digital transformation and information technology services company, has completed construction of a 30 MW AI data center in Jakarta, Indonesia. The project was commissioned by Kuningan Mas Gemilang (KMG), a joint venture between Indonesia’s Cinarmas Group and South Korea’s Tuzarial Asset Management.
According to an LG CNS press release, the facility is designed to support high performance computing (HPC) using next generation graphics processing units (GPUs) and marks the first time a South Korean company has directly built an AI data center overseas for a local customer.
Hyun Shin-kyun, CEO, LG CNS, said, “Completion of the construction of the Indonesian AI data center will provide LG CNS’s domestically accumulated data center capabilities to overseas customers. It is a meaningful achievement that has proven business competitiveness in the global market. We will use this as a bridgehead to expand our AI data center and AI factory business in global markets, including the Asia-Pacific region, where demand for AI computing is rapidly increasing.”
The data center’s power infrastructure can support loads exceeding 300 KW per rack, allowing it to accommodate multiple GPUs within a single rack. Redundant power systems, including backup supplies, are designed to maintain operations around the clock in the event of a disruption to the main electricity supply. Its cooling infrastructure combines air cooling with provisions for liquid cooling, which will be introduced in a subsequent construction phase to manage the heat generated by high density AI servers.
Once completed, the data center’s total capacity is expected to reach 400 MW, positioning it among Indonesia’s largest AI data center facilities. The project also brought together capabilities from across the LG Group, including LG Electronics’ air conditioning systems and LG Energy Solution’s batteries, alongside LG CNS’ data center design, construction and operation expertise.
LG CNS is also pursuing AI data center projects in other Asia-Pacific markets, including Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines and Japan, using its Indonesian project as a reference for overseas expansion.
Beyond data center construction and operation, LG CNS has been expanding into modular data centers, GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) and liquid cooling infrastructure. The company also plans to develop AI factory services that integrate AI platforms and infrastructure.
