EdgeConneX has just inked a deal worth $403.8 million in Sustainability-Linked Senior Facilities. This strategic move serves as a catalyst for the company’s expansion plans and its commitment to sustainable initiatives within its Jakarta, Indonesia data center operations.
This significant milestone sets the stage for an array of sustainability enhancements, encompassing improvements in power efficiency, the integration of renewable energy sources, and the implementation of advanced safety protocols.
EdgeConneX’s vision includes the establishment of multiple data centers across the region, effectively elevating the total power capacity of its Indonesian hyperscale campus in Jakarta to a remarkable 120MWs.
With Jakarta standing as Indonesia’s largest city, boasting a population of over 33 million residents, it serves as a pivotal gateway to Southeast Asia for industries spanning commerce, trade, and technology.
The city’s abundant fiber infrastructure, robust power capabilities, minimal latency interconnectivity, and global peering options position Jakarta as a thriving market primed for substantial growth.
This presents a golden opportunity for major players in the cloud industry to expedite their cloud access, content delivery, and connectivity services in this high-potential market.
Recently, EdgeConneX also announced its entrance into the Malaysian market with plans to build data centers that will deliver nearly 300 MWs of capacity combined located in critical locations across Malaysia: Kuala Lumpur’s Central Business District, Bukit Jalil, and Cyberjaya.
