Asia Direct Cable (ADC) Officially Lands its Hong Kong Segment

Asia Direct Cable (ADC) lands Hong Kong segment at SUNeVision’s HKIS-1

SUNeVision Holdings Ltd. (SUNeVision), the top data center provider and connectivity hub in Hong Kong, and China Telecom Global Limited (CTG), the world’s largest integrated telecommunications services provider, jointly announced that the Asia Direct Cable (ADC) has formally landed its Hong Kong segment at SUNeVision’s HKIS-1 facility in Chung Hom Kok.

In addition to the new City Point-of-Presence (PoP) at SUNeVision’s hyperscale data center MEGA Plus, it heralds the introduction of ADC at the first and only carrier-neutral cable landing station (CLS) in Hong Kong, seamlessly connecting the region through the powerful network capabilities and global presence of CTG.

The ADC system is a cutting-edge submarine cable with the most fiber pairs and system transmission capacity in Asia1. It can transmit more than 140 Tbps of data and has the capacity to meet the growing demand for heavy transmission flow and bandwidth-intensive applications, such as 5G networks, the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), cloud, video streaming, and more.

ADC’s launch at SUNeVision’s HKIS-1, the only carrier- and cloud-neutral CLS in Chung Hom Kok, will strategically allow CTG to let their clients connect with the area without difficulty. With the help of both parties, new connections will definitely open the door to an entirely new digital experience and more service opportunities.

Data center capabilities approved by ANSI/TIA-942 and direct backhaul access to MEGA Campus, including MEGA-i, were incorporated into SUNeVision’s carrier-neutral cable landing station HKIS-1. Users of the ADC Hong Kong segment can interconnect with MEGA-i, which has around 15,000 cross-connects and nine out of the eleven City PoPs of international subsea cables in Hong Kong, to benefit from one-stop connectivity and interconnect with hundreds of providers through SUNeVision’s rich data center ecosystem with high reliability and efficiency.

For Hong Kong and mainland China, the ADC system provides a vital infrastructure connection to and from valuable information hubs in East and Southeast Asia. The most carrier-dense colocation site in the world, SUNeVision’s MEGA-i, is located in Hong Kong, which continues to rank among the top 10 countries in the world for data capacity2. The first significant international cable to land in Hong Kong since 20174 is called ADC, and it aims to meet the long-anticipated demand for seamless data transmission and regional digitalization.
