Area31 data center located in Depok, West Java, Indonesia, has become the first data center in ASEAN to receive the ISO 22237 certification.
According to local reports, EPI, an international independent certification body, has awarded the ANSI/TIA-942-B Rated 3 Facilities Certificate and ISO/IEC 22237 Availability Class 3 & Protection Class 3 certifications to Area31.
Area31 was reported to have met the standards in terms of building architecture, telecommunications, electrical, and mechanical aspects to be eligible for such certification.
The ISO 22237 can be broken down in several sections that include general concepts, building construction, power distribution, environmental control, telecommunications and cabling infrastructure, security systems and management and operations.
As per the ISO standards, the ISO 22237 encompasses some of the following general concepts:
b) It defines the common elements of data centers, including terminology, parameters, and reference models. These models address the size and complexity required for their intended purposes.
c) It describes the general aspects of facilities and infrastructures necessary to support data centers.
d) It specifies a classification system that considers “availability,” “security,” and “energy-efficiency” throughout the planned lifespan of the data center. This system ensures the provision of effective facilities and infrastructure.
e) It provides detailed guidelines for conducting business risk and operating cost analyses, enabling the application of data center classification.
f) It serves as a reference for the operation and management of data centers.
Indonesia has been among the fastest growing markets in the region for data centers. According to Mordor Intelligence, the data center market in Indonesia is expected to reach USD 3.43 billion by 2027.
