Alibaba Cloud, the AI infrastructure and intelligence arm of Alibaba Group, has launched its cloud region in France featuring two availability zones.

The cloud region will support key sectors in the European market, specifically retail, software development, AI-powered creative platforms, and sports technology. The launch of this region will complement Alibaba Cloud’s existing infrastructure in Germany and the UK the company said in a press release.

“The expansion of our cloud infrastructure into France reinforces our ongoing commitment to empowering European businesses with sovereign, secure, and intelligent solutions,” Feifei Li, Chief Technology Officer and President of International Business of Alibaba Cloud. “This expansion, alongside the introduction of our agentic AI services to Europe, aligns with our broader strategy to bring our full-stack AI+Cloud ecosystem to global customers as we enter the agentic era.”

French, and indeed European, businesses will be able to leverage Alibaba Cloud’s operational resilience, disaster recovery capabilities, and high availability to run their operations with confidence. Furthermore, the France region is equipped with a comprehensive suite of enterprise-grade cloud services including elastic computing, storage, containerization, networking, security, databases, and advanced developer tools.

Later this year, the firm will launch a suite of agentic AI services including AgentRun, ACS Agent Sandbox, Agent Security Center, AI Security Guardrails 2.0, STAROps, and Agentic SOC for the region. Together, these products will enable streamlined development and deployment of enterprise-scale agents within a secure environment for European organizations.

Recently, the firm revealed updates to its foundation AI models, infrastructure, and tools. These updates will further assist businesses looking to deploy intelligent and highly capable agentic solutions quickly.

Alibaba Cloud has been serving the European market for the better part of a decade. It provided cloud services during the Olympic Games Paris 2024, and in May it announced a multi-year partnership with the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and UC3. Under that partnership, Alibaba Cloud’s advanced AI capabilities, enabled by Qwen, will be used to drive intelligent fan engagement and content management for UEFA and UC3.

Like Alibaba Cloud’s other European facilities, the France region is built to comply with European regulatory frameworks and standards, including data privacy, cybersecurity, resilience, and sovereignty.
