Singapore-based data center platform Digital Edge has topped out its first building, CGK1, and signed a power agreement with PT PLN (Persero) to supply 1.45GW to its 500MW CGK campus in Bekasi, Greater Jakarta. The power agreement is believed to be the largest single-campus power commitment ever secured for a data center in Indonesia, according to the firm’s press release.
The 1.45GW power agreement is structured as 2 x 725 MVA across two independent feeds for greater resilience in supporting AI and cloud workloads.
CGK1 is expected to be ready for service by Q4 2026, while its second and third buildings will follow in Q1 and Q2 2027 respectively.
Located at GIIC Industrial Estate in Bekasi, the US$4.5 billion multi-phase facility is one of Indonesia’s largest AI-ready hyperscale data center campuses. It has been sustainably designed to target an annualized PUE (power usage effectiveness) of 1.25, achieve LEED certification, incorporate recycled water systems, and integrate renewable energy.
President Director of PLN, Darmawan Prasodjo, said: “Through this collaboration, PLN is committed to delivering reliable and sustainable electricity supply to support the needs of this strategic sector, while further strengthening Indonesia’s position as a digital economy hub in Southeast Asia.”
Stephanus Oscar, CEO of Digital Edge Indonesia said: “The topping out of CGK1, backed by the largest single-campus power agreement in Indonesia, reflects our ability to scale in support of the country’s digital growth. By securing power upfront, we are enabling hyperscale and AI deployments with the certainty and speed the market requires.”
CGK Campus is located less than 15 kilometers from other major data center clusters in Cikarang area and about 40 kms from Digital Edge’s downtown EDGE1 and EDGE2 facilities. The campus will be supported by the extensive fiber and network assets of Indonet, Digital Edge’s wholly owned Indonesian telecommunications subsidiary, including the new 100 per cent underground fiber routes.
In March, the company secured US$ 665 million, Indonesia’s largest data center green loan to finance the first phase of its CGK Campus.
Digital Edge provides data centre and fiber services across Asia-Pacific including China, Indonesia, India and Japan, and boasts 1.8 gigawatts of secured IT power.
