Malaysian infrastructure and property development giant Gamuda Berhad recently announced that it has been awarded construction work for a hyperscale data center worth RM1.72 billion (US$ 430 million), the company announced in a Bursa filing.
To commence in Q2 2026, the work entails site infrastructure works, core and shell construction, and mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) fit-out construction, at a US tech giant’s site in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan.
The construction, to be carried out by Gamuda’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Gamuda Engineering Sdn Bhd, is expected to complete in Q1 2028.
In May 2025, Gamuda sold 389 acres of land in Port Dickson for RM455.23 million (US$ 108 million) to Google’s affiliate, Pearl Computing Malaysia Sdn Bhd, which planned to build a 500 MW – 1 GW data center to cater for Google Cloud and AI workloads.
