Singapore will build Kampong AI, a new artificial intelligence park at LaunchPad @ One-North as part of its nationwide AI push. To be built by JTC, a statutory board under the Ministry of Trade and Industry, it will be the island nation’s first integrated start-up community with both work and living spaces under one roof.
Dubbed Singapore’s Hub and Home for AI, it will feature two repurposed blocks providing 14,500 square metres to accommodate up to 70 companies and event spaces, as well as 200 residential units at an adjacent block.
According to a JTC’s press release yesterday, Kampong AI, which is expected to be completed by 2028, is envisaged to be a space where AI startup founders, talent, corporates, venture builders and capital, and academia come together to explore and solve real world challenges using AI. The launch is part of JTC’s refreshed masterplan for LaunchPad, which will also include new event spaces, sports facilities, networking areas and eateries.
According to news reports, organisations such as Weston Robot, SoftBank Robotics, the National Robotics Programme’s Embodied AI Centre and the Singapore AI Safety Hub are among those interested to take up space at Kampong AI. The two blocks are close to the offices of industry trailblazers like Grab, Razer, and Sea, and research institutions like NUS and A*STAR.
Pilot to start in March
To kick off the pioneer project, a pilot phase of Kampong AI will be launched this month using existing workspaces in LaunchPad @ One-North.
“AI-driven enterprises can already access the Ministry of Digital Development and Information’s (MDDI) Lorong AI, a collaborative workspace for the AI community, which recently opened a second site in Vidacity at LaunchPad @ One-North,” the statement said.
Lorong AI’s first site was launched in Chinatown in 2025, serving as a networking hub for AI practitioners and researchers as well as government agencies.
“Kampong AI will be anchored within LaunchPad @ One-North, one of Southeast Asia’s densest and most dynamic startup ecosystems, nested in a high-tech district. We intend to bring together a focused cluster of AI-driven enterprises under one roof, with dedicated infrastructure and live-work convenience that founders need to move fast, scale smart, and attract world-class talent from across the globe,” said Jacqueline Poh, Chief Executive of JTC.
Next: LaunchPad @ PDD
With the aim of offering startup spaces islandwide, JTC will set up another new startup space at Punggol Digital District (LaunchPad @ PDD) in phases from late 2026.
LaunchPad @ PDD will house startups that can leverage the entire district to testbed innovations in smart city solutions, fintech, robotics and cybersecurity. PDD’s Open Digital Platform (ODP) will collect district data and power a digital twin allowing lifelike simulations to test solutions. When innovations are ready for real-world pilots, ODP will link the innovations to PDD’s infrastructure – lifts, gantries, and doors – for deployment throughout the district, JTC said.
“dConstruct Robotics, a Singapore-based robotics and embodied AI startup, is looking to pilot applications such as autonomous delivery in PDD – where robots can navigate buildings, clear security gantries, and even take lifts to deliver parcels or food directly to users,” the statement added.
Singapore is home to more than 4,500 tech start-ups and over 500 global venture capital firms and angel investors. Opened in 2015, LaunchPad @ One-North has housed over 2,400 start-ups which included tech leaders such as e-commerce platform Carousell, data and analytics firm Patsnap and cross-border payments firm Nium.
The AI park, as well as AI Missions and Champions of AI, are envisaged to position Singapore as the region’s AI hub where AI solutions are built and scaled. AI Missions aims to transform four critical sectors in Singapore, namely advanced manufacturing, connectivity, finance and healthcare, while Champions of AI will provide tailored leadership and workforce training support to firms keen to adopt AI.
