Naoki Yoshida,  creative director and producer of Final Fantasy XIV, shares his goals for the next 10 years of the critically-acclaimed MMORPG. Yoshida mentioned allowing players to party up across data centers, in addition to simply having more data centers in regions around the world.

Gaming data centers may be owned and operated by game developers or publishers, or they may be operated by third-party companies that specialize in hosting gaming infrastructure.

It is a facility that houses servers, storage devices, and networking equipment that are specifically designed to support online gaming. These data centers are designed to provide high-performance computing, low latency, and high-speed connectivity to gamers all around the world. They typically have specialized hardware and software configurations that are optimized for gaming workloads.

In line with this, Yoshida stated that if they start working on looking into setting up a physical data center, they don’t have to worry too much about latency.

Moreover, he also said that this would be quite an undertaking—trying to connect all of the different regions, so that no matter where the players are in the world, they’ll be able to sync up with and party up with other players.

Yoshida included a lingering hope for those Xbox platform players that are out there in the cold. “Otherwise, there are still certain platforms that we’re not, we don’t have the game on,” he added.

Gaming data centers are essential for providing gamers with the high-quality online gaming experiences they demand. By leveraging the latest technologies and specialized hardware and software configurations, these data centers help to ensure that gamers can play their favorite games with minimal lag and maximum performance.
