The inaugural W.Media Asia Pacific Awards in 2021 had all the key ingredients, such as innovation, cutting-edge technology and sustainability – hardwired into all 200+ entries. Now, W.Media is back with the 2nd edition of the Asia Pacific Awards 2022.
The Awards, which are one-of-a-kind in the region, honour the Herculean efforts put in by companies, as well as thought leaders, in ensuring that our daily lives continue in a streamlined manner.
A New World?
The 2022 Asia Pacific Cloud & Datacenter Awards will be conducted in the midst of another ‘New Normal’. While, 2020 and 2021 was dominated by COVID-19, this year geopolitical tensions dominate the headlines. You may ask what is the connection between geopolitical tensions and business. The answer is – everything.
Right from sourcing of products, supply chain, cyber security environments of enterprises to increased cost of doing business, geopolitical tensions don’t augur positive momentum for business continuity. In May 2021, McKinsey Global Survey on digital strategy indicated that the pandemic has increased the pace of business and that technology capabilities will be critical to companies’ COVID-19 exit strategies as well as to what comes next.
After seeing how the pandemic had sped up the adoption of digital technologies by several years, we will do a ‘deep dive’ on how companies are rethinking the role of digital technology in their overall business strategy and how to conduct business at the quickening pace that’s now needed.
Rapid market growth across Asia-Pacific
Internet penetration is one of the strongest drivers for the data center market across Southeast Asia. Moreover, social media usage among consumers and digital transformation by enterprises across industry verticals are other major factors promoting data center growth. To meet new demands, companies are making digital and technology investments across the business model.
Singapore’s forays in using Cloud, and its strict guidelines for new Data Centers are ushering a new paradigm in the Southeast Asian region. Singapore’s tight regulatory structure–fuelled by the design inefficiencies inherent to data center architecture–pushes providers to innovate sustainably.
At the same time regional counterparts are beginning to emerge as market contenders. As new entrants establish their presence in Singapore, they’re pushed to adapt to the unique features of the market landscape. Indonesia’s digital traffic has increased exponentially as a result of the surge in electronic transactions and internet content during the COVID-19 pandemic. Combine this with a rapid growth of startups and an increasing population, demand for hyperscale data centres are reaching newer heights.
Recognition and reward
Acknowledging all change agents, the W.Media Awards recognise the efforts and the contributions made by all involved organisations and thought leaders over the past 18 months. Since 2018, W.Media’s industry following has grown exponentially across Asia Pacific. IT and Data Center Professionals from established and emerging markets have poured forward in tens of thousands to network and learn through W.Media’s platforms.
W.Media will be presenting awards for each sub-region – Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, South Asia and Australasia. With up to 61 winners, this will be the largest Awards series in 2022 for the Cloud & Datacenter Community in Asia-Pacific. Nominations open 1st June – 31st July. After the nominations window closes, W.Media will host regional Online Digital Summits to further explore the industry’s achievements through thought leadership presentations, panel discussions and fireside chats.
