W.Media Asia Pacific Cloud & Datacenter Awards 2022 Nominations Open: Call to Elevate Asia’s Global Cloud & Datacenter Experts

The ‘New Normal’, post COVID-19 is here to stay. While it has altered the rules, due to lockdowns and other government measures, every business, from across sectors, is now embracing ‘digital’ as the accepted norm.

Corporations around the world are rethinking how to reach and serve customers, build reliable supply chains, ensure employee productivity and drive the sustainability agenda.

The Asia Pacific region has seen some of the most dramatic and rapid developments in the cloud and IT industries over the past year or so. Singapore holds onto its position as the region’s premiere data center hub.

Increasingly, the market is pivoting towards efficiency and sustainability. Reliable power grids in Singapore and other countries, coupled with skilled personnel have proved to be overwhelmingly attractive against space scarcity concerns and an increasing push by regulators to move towards renewable energy.

However, some questions remain on the recent rules that the country has brought in with regards to data centre construction. On the other hand, Indonesia is a rising star. Data Centers in Jakarta alone are set to witness a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 21.8% in the years 2019-2024 , the highest for any city in Southeast Asia, according to Cushman & Wakefield Datacenter Report 2019.

If these objectives have to be achieved, then a robust cloud and data centre infrastructure have to be in place. Internet penetration is one of the strongest drivers for the data center market across Southeast Asia. Moreover, social media usage among consumers and digital transformation by enterprises across industry verticals are other major factors promoting data center growth. To keep the cost of running a data center down, advanced cooling systems are required.

Along with data centres, cyber security has assumed a new meaning and attacks across the spectrum have dramatically increased which has resulted in enterprises and governments- both being vulnerable.

The majority of our Awards Judges will be anonymous as they hold procurement responsibilities and are strategic influencers in our industry.

It is essential that the evaluation is focused on the submissions themselves to ensure a fair and equitable assessment process. With more than 30 industry experts involved in this year’s judging process, the judging process will officially commence from August 2022.
