Indian data center provider Web Werks along with NYSE-listed Iron Mountain is building a third data center facility in Mumbai named Mumbai -3. Based in Rabale, this facility is built with an investment of Rs 1400cr, spread over 5 acres and is expected to go live in 2025. It will be a Tier-III designed data center with a 32 megawatts capacity of IT load.
This is the seventh facility of this venture in India. The data center enables access to Tier-1 carriers, 200+ internet service providers (ISPs), three of India’s largest peering exchanges, along with cloud on-ramp with major hyperscale cloud providers.
Indian data center and cloud sector is showing consistent growth attracting domestic and international data center providers. Amazon Web Services (AWS) recently went public with its decision to invest INR 1,05,600 crores (US $12.7 billion) into cloud infrastructure in India by the next decade. This investment is likely to meet the growing customer demand for cloud services in India. The latest one to join is Blackstone’s Lumina Cloudinfra. Which laid the foundation of its first hyperscale data center in Mumbai. The first phase of the maiden venture in Navi Mumbai’s Airoli area will be completed by 2025.
