The growth of data centers South of Metro Manila in the Philippines is seen as a boost for the area’s real estate market.
There is a string of projects in the works in the vicinity that include YCO Cloud One by JJYnchausti Ventures and Cloud Centers in Batangas, Vitro Sta Rosa by ePLDT in Laguna, Flow Digital by the Ayala Group and FLOW in Laguna and Evolution DC by Megawide Construction Corp and Evolution DC Cavite.
These projects will be joining the existing data centers that include Globe Telecom’s CAV1 in Cavite, TIMCORP’s Carmona site in Cavite, and NARRA1 by Threadborne Group and Digital Edge in Laguna.
According to the report, the urbanisation of Metro Manila has led to higher land price and is driving industrial zones out of the capital. Areas in South Luzon, in comparison, are underdeveloped and land values are still financially viable for industries such as data center operations.
The data center industry is booming in the Philippines. In March, Digital Edge announced that its brand-new 10MW data center in Manila while PLDT Group will have the first of a series of hyperscale data centers in the Philippines completed in 2024.
In November last year, Alibaba Group, a Chinese multinational technology giant, anticipates gaining a larger part of the cloud computing and storage services industry in the Philippines following the activation of its data center in Manila.
