Singtel, GULF, and AIS have commenced the construction of a new data center strategically located near to Bangkok, capital of Thailand. The data center will be operated by their joint venture company GSA Data Center Company Limited (GSA) and is expected to start operating commercially in 2025. It will have a capacity of at least 20MW.
GSA makes use of the advantages of its three partners. Singtel has deep technological expertise in the development and operation of hyperscale data centers and a diversified global customer base that includes hyperscalers, while GULF is well-established in the energy and infrastructure business with a portfolio of green energy projects in domestic and international markets and an extensive business network. In addition to developing and managing numerous data center facilities across Thailand, AIS also has experience working with a significant number of enterprise customers. Local expertise in domestic networks. GSA has ownership shares from GULF, Singtel, and AIS totaling 40%, 35%, and 25%, respectively.
In order to meet the demands of enterprises and cloud service providers in Thailand and abroad as their economies rapidly digitalize, the best-in-class hyperconnected data center will be equipped with cutting-edge technologies, such as extensive security and access control systems, efficient energy management, and incorporate the use of renewable energy to reduce its carbon footprint.
The GSA data center will be constructed in compliance with world-class standards to obtain certifications such as TIA-942 Certification Rated-3, LEED Gold, Threat and Vulnerability Assessment (TVRA), and ISO 27001.
According to Ravi Kurmarohita, Chief Executive Officer, GSA Data Center Company Limited, said, today’s groundbreaking ceremony is regarded as an important occasion to begin the official construction of the GSA data center and marks another significant step in the development of the GSA data center.

Moreover, for Mr Bill Chang, Chief Executive Officer of Singtel’s Regional Data Centre business, the commencement of the Thai data center’s construction phase represents an exciting turning point in Singtel’s regional data center strategy, which aims to build the high-quality digital infrastructure required to meet the expanding digital needs of ASEAN businesses and cloud service providers and to solidify Singtel’s position as a key regional data center player.
“Thailand’s digital economy, in particular, is one of the fastest growing in the region with a compound growth rate of 15% every year to 2025, and our announcement today signals our firm intention to leverage the combined expertise of the joint venture partners to build and operate a best-in-class green data center to support this exciting market.” said Chang.
Along with the data center in Thailand, Singtel is also building a data center with a 51 MW capacity in Indonesia with partners Telkom and Medco Power. With new construction in Tuas, it is also increasing capacity in Singapore. By 2025, it is anticipated that the data centers in Singapore and Indonesia would be operational.
