세계에서 가장 유명한 GPU(Graphics Processing Units) 제조업체 중 하나인 NVIDIA는 “영국에서 AI 산업 혁명을 가속화하고 있다”고 발표했습니다. 이를 위해 CoreWeave, Microsoft 및 Nscale을 포함한 파트너와 협력하여 차세대 AI 인프라를 구축할 예정입니다.
이번 발표는 도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령의 영국 국빈 방문 중에 나왔습니다. NVIDIA는 AI 공장이 120,000개의 NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra GPU와 최대 110억 파운드를 투자하여 현지 데이터 센터를 통해 영국 내 AI 인프라를 확장할 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
보도 자료에서 NVIDIA는 “2026년 말까지 OpenAI의 모델을 포함한 주요 AI 모델을 제공할 AI 공장을 건설 및 운영하여 영국 경제 전반에 걸쳐 혁신, 성장 및 기회를 제공하는 플랫폼을 구축하기 위한 영국의 자주적인 AI 목표를 달성할 것입니다.”라고 밝혔습니다.
키어 스타머 영국 총리와 NVIDIA 설립자 겸 CEO인 젠슨 황이 협력을 발표한 지 3개월 만에 공개된 이 새로운 인프라는 “영국 전역에서 새로운 일자리 기회를 육성하고 강력하고 안전하며 지속 가능한 경제 성장을 지원할 뿐만 아니라 의약 및 신약 발견을 포함하여 영국-미국 기술 파트너십에서 합의한 우선 순위 분야에서 획기적인 연구를 위한 플랫폼 역할을 하는 것을 목표로 합니다.”

또한 NVIDIA는 영국 클라우드 파트너 Nscale이 전 세계적으로 300,000개의 NVIDIA Grace Blackwell GPU를 통해 글로벌 확장을 확대할 수 있도록 지원하고 있습니다., NVIDIA revealed, “By the end of 2026, the companies will build and operate AI factories that will serve leading AI models, including those from OpenAI, to enable the U.K.’s sovereign AI goals for building a platform to power innovation, growth and opportunity across the economy.”
Unveiled three months after U.K Prime Minister Keir Starmer and NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang announced a collaboration, this new infrastructure aims to “foster new job opportunities and support strong, secure and sustainable economic growth across the U.K, as well as serve as a platform for groundbreaking research in priority areas agreed in the U.K.-U.S. tech partnership, including medicine and drug discovery.”
“The United Kingdom is building the infrastructure for the AI industrial revolution — advancing science, transforming industries and creating new economic opportunities,” said Huang. “We are at the big bang of intelligence, and the United Kingdom’s Goldilocks ecosystem of world-class expertise, outstanding universities and vibrant industries is uniquely positioned to thrive in the age of AI.”

Furthermore, NVIDIA is enabling U.K. cloud partner Nscale to scale up its global expansion with 300,000 NVIDIA Grace Blackwell GPUs worldwide.
