GNM, a telecommunications and internet infrastructure provider, has switched on its new point of presence (PoP) at Digital Realty’s colocation data center in Tribeca, New York. The launch establishes GNM’s presence in one of the world’s major interconnection hubs.
The PoP in New York forms part of GNM’s Connectivity Platform, connecting North America to the firm’s established network in Europe. The platform provides access to IP transit, remote peering, Layer 2, DWDM/wavelengths, and international transport, giving customers the flexibility to build connectivity around their own network requirements.
“New York is a major step for us because we’re bringing more than a new PoP to the market. A network connecting to GNM here can reach both North America and Europe and choose the connectivity services it actually needs,” said Alex Surkov, GNM Head of Business Development.
Surkov added that with the new PoP, businesses can consolidate their connectivity through GNM, giving greater flexibility, simplicity, and a more cost-efficient way to grow across regions.
In addition to the new PoP, GNM launched its Connectivity Platform at facilities operated by Equinix in Ashburn, Virginia, and Miami, Florida in July. GNM said in a press release that it intends to expand its North American footprint, adding new locations and connectivity options as its network expands.
The company said it operates a DWDM backbone that spans more than 21,500 km across 21 countries. GNM’s European network is vast, running from the UK across several other European countries.
In August, GNM completed an infrastructure upgrade across key PoPs in Europe. The upgrade added backbone capacity at LIM DC in Warsaw, Poland, and installed new high-performance switching at Telehouse Paris 2 in France and Digital Realty STO1-6 in Stockholm, Sweden.
“These upgrades increase network capacity at these locations severalfold, supporting continued traffic growth and providing additional headroom for future expansion,” the company said.
