Edge Centres, an Australian-based edge data center provider, has acquired Corum Group’s client Missouri-based Hyson International, a global provider of data center infrastructure and hosting services, to propel the company’s vision and capabilities to bring edge interconnect, colocation and data center hosting into the US tier 2 and 3 markets.
Colocation and data center hosting are services that allow businesses to place their servers and other IT equipment in a third-party facility, instead of housing them on-premises. This provides several benefits, including improved reliability, security, and scalability.
US tier 2 and 3 markets refer to smaller cities and towns outside of major metropolitan areas. These markets typically have lower real estate and energy costs, making them attractive for businesses looking to reduce their operating expenses.
When it comes to colocation and data center hosting, tier 2 and 3 markets offer several advantages. First, they often have lower costs for space and power, which can translate to lower prices for customers. Second, these markets may have more available space than larger cities, which can make it easier to find suitable facilities.
According to William Hill, SVP Corum Group, Edge Centres is on a mission to provide edge data center solutions to solve the needs of its thriving local markets: Australia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Thailand. This transaction will allow Edge Centres to expand that vision into the US and accelerate its strategy.
