Stonepeak-backed data center platform Digital Edge has entered Malaysia with the purchase of 50 acres of land in Johor from Crescendo Corporation Berhad. The freehold land was purchased for RM346 million (US$87 million) for the purpose of building a data center. The sale is expected to be completed by the second half of 2027.
The sale and purchase agreement was signed by Crescendo Development Sdn. Bhd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Crescendo while the purchaser was represented by Digital Edge Data Centers (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd, according to a Bursa filing by Crescendo last week.
Located in Kota Tinggi, the vacant industrial land is surrounded by a mixture of residential and commercial developments, according to the filing.
In March, Digital Edge secured US$ 665 million green loan, the largest data center green loan ever in Indonesia, to finance the first phase of its 500MW CGK Campus in the country.
Headquartered in Singapore, Digital Edge operates 24 data centers across nine countries in Asia including China, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Thailand and South Korea.
