China’s Xizang Autonomous Region Achieves Full 5G Network Coverage

The white paper issued by China’s State Council Information Office revealed that 5G networks have been successfully deployed across all countries and major townships in Southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region.

The details were disclosed in a white paper titled ‘CPC Policies on the Governance of Xizang in the New Era: Approach and Achievements.’ According to the document, a total of 8,099 5G base stations and nearly 312,600 km of fiber-optic cables have been installed in Xizang.

Furthermore, the region now boasts extensive coverage of optical fiber broadband, 4G, radio, and TV signals, reaching nearly all administrative villages.

The integration of modern cloud and network technologies has facilitated seamless online connectivity for local residents, allowing them to connect with the global digital landscape.

Just recently, John Hoffman, the CEO of GSMA Ltd., an international mobile operator association, stated that China is poised to have 1 billion 5G mobile connections by 2025.

As of September, China boasted 3.189 million 5G base stations, covering urban areas of prefecture-level and county-level cities.

The data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology revealed that approximately 22.6 5G base stations are shared among every 10,000 Chinese residents.
