John Hoffman, the CEO of GSMA Ltd., an international mobile operator association, stated that China is poised to have 1 billion 5G mobile connections by 2025.
China has actively embraced 5G technology, especially in vertical sectors, where it has introduced innovative business models to promote widespread adoption across various industries.
This proactive approach has accelerated digital transformation in sectors ranging from mining to ports and manufacturing, showcasing the immense potential of 5G technology in all business domains.
As of September, China boasted 3.189 million 5G base stations, covering urban areas of prefecture-level and county-level cities.
The data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology revealed that approximately 22.6 5G base stations are shared among every 10,000 Chinese residents. This widespread coverage has led to diverse demands for computing power scenarios.
GSMA anticipates that 5G technology will contribute nearly $1 trillion to the global GDP by 2030, with almost half of this economic growth originating from the services sector.
To expedite the integration of 5G technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in China has planned initiatives to implement 5G in various sectors, including manufacturing, mining, electric power, and ports management.
Furthermore, MIIT aims to explore new applications in fields such as healthcare and education. Currently, 5G technology has been successfully implemented in 67 out of the 97 key sectors of the country’s economy.
