Amazon Web Services AWS has invested ¥348 billion ($2.4 billion) in both capital and operational improvements to its data centers in Japan with the goal of boosting the local economy.
The amount of investments the company has made in various national infrastructure development projects and their projected economic impact were disclosed by Tadao Nagasaki, President of Amazon Web Services Japan.

Since 2011, the total capital and operational expenditures for AWS’s two infrastructure Regions in the country have totaled ¥1.35 trillion ($9.2 billion).
