AdaniConneX, the joint venture between Adani Group and EdgeConneX that has become one of India’s fastest-growing data center developers, has partnered with DE-CIX India, a leading interconnection platform operator, to establish a point of presence (PoP) at the Chennai 1 data center in the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) region.
With the PoP, Chennai 1 customers will gain direct access to DE-CIX India’s internet exchange, cloud connectivity and enterprise networking services. As noted in a press release, the PoP also benefits from the international subsea cable landing stations across Chennai. The collaboration will help reduce latency, enhance user experience, and improve performance across digital services.

Building data centers is only part of the equation; they must also be seamlessly connected to the networks, cloud platforms and businesses that rely on them. This partnership strengthens the digital ecosystem that enterprises, content providers and cloud platforms depend on. It will help create the infrastructure needed for the next phase of India’s digital growth,” said Jeyakumar Janakaraj, AdaniConneX Chief Executive Officer.

DE-CIX operates internet exchanges across major Indian cities including Mumbai, Delhi National Capital Region (NCR), Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru. The deployment of the Chennai PoP will enable connectivity to over 600 networks including telecom operators, internet service providers, content platforms, and global cloud operators.
Furthering their partnership, AdaniConneX and DE-CIX India are said to be exploring other opportunities to expand interconnection capabilities across additional campuses, creating a distributed and efficient network architecture that supports India’s expanding data and connectivity needs.
According to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) internet usage in India has exploded over the last decade, growing from a connectivity rate of 14.9 percent in 2015 to 70 percent by 2025. As a result, the ITU has seen broadband traffic climb sharply. Investment in telecommunication services not only meets that demand but also prepares the country for the next stage of growth in the AI era.
