YTL Power International Bhd (YTL) has entered into a strategic collaboration with the renowned US multinational technology firm, NVIDIA Corp, in a substantial $4.3 billion investment initiative aimed at advancing artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure in Southeast Asia.
The development is centered around the establishment of cutting-edge AI infrastructure within the YTL Green Data Center Park, a formidable 500 MW facility situated in Kulai, Johor, crafted by YTL.
In this venture, YTL Communications Sdn Bhd, the telecommunications arm of YTL, assumes ownership and operational stewardship of the AI infrastructure, poised to deliver AI computing services nationwide.
Forecasts indicate that this AI infrastructure initiative will propel Malaysia into possessing the swiftest supercomputers by the midpoint of 2024. Beyond the technological strides, the collaborative partnership between YTL and NVIDIA is poised to fortify Southeast Asia’s rapidly expanding AI ecosystem, simultaneously contributing to Malaysia’s aspirations as a dominant force in semiconductor manufacturing.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed that the substantial investment in Malaysia underscores the nation’s allure as a premier destination for foreign investors, particularly technology giants, reaffirming its status as a primary hub in the region.
The collaboration is thus poised not only to elevate Malaysia’s technological standing but also to significantly bolster the overall economic landscape and global competitiveness in the burgeoning field of artificial intelligence.
