YCO Cloud Launches Data Center Facility in the Philippines

YCO Cloud, a Philippine-based digital infrastructure company, launched its first greenfield project, YCO Cloud Campus One, a data center facility in the Light Industry and Science Park IV in Malvar, Batangas.

According to YCO Chief Executive Officer Nikolas de Ynchausti, YCO Cloud will be able to deliver capacity by 2024. He adds that the company’s primary focus is on encouraging hyperscalers, wholesale enterprises, and potentially, telecommunication companies to use its facilities.

The Philippines is seen as a viable market for data centers because of its digitization initiatives and growing use of e-commerce. Additionally, due to the country’s strategic location and local data usage, data center expansion is still occurring in the Philippines market. Demand for data centers was a result of the internet’s rapid technological development.

Data center developers from foreign countries are witnessing a high demand for data centers in the Philippines. A majority of these developers are already present in the country and are actively seeking appropriate locations, be it lands or buildings, to construct their data centers.

Moreover, the Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has welcomed the proposed establishment of two hyperscale data centers in Luzon.

According to the President, the projects would enable the Philippines to catch up with other countries in terms of digitalization.
