What’s next for Singapore’s Cloud and Data Center industries?
Published 19 November 2020
Singapore is a leader in Asia’s cloud and data center space, enabling continuous innovation and digital transformation.
Despite its relative sparse available space, Singapore has positioned itself as a mature data center hub through its reliable power grid and skilled workforce.
But now, as competition mounts from neighbouring countries like Malaysia and Indonesia, and a moratorium on new data center builds in a time when digital transformation is happening at an even faster pace spurred on by the global pandemic, we ask what’s next for Singapore?
On Thursday 26 November, we will tackle this question and more at the Singapore Cloud and Datacenter Digital Summit, with an audience of more than 200 of the top IT and data center professionals.
We’ll be joined by Clement Goh, Chief Executive Officer for Southeast Asia at ST Telemedia Global Data Centres, to share a broad overview on what is driving the Internet economy forward in Singapore and the region, explore why Singapore continues to be an attractive business hub for major tech giants like Tencent and ByteDance who have recently announced moves into the Little Red Dot.
“The Internet economy has been growing at an accelerated pace today due to the exponential digital adoption across various industries. It is even more critical to address how we can overcome prevailing challenges of data centre supply in Singapore in order to maintain its competitive advantage with the global and emerging tech giants, as well as cater to the surging customer demands as they expand across Southeast Asia,” said Mr. Goh.
On top of this, we will also explore how to navigate Singapore’s data protection laws, how legacy data centers fit into Singapore’s sustainable future, and addressing cloud migration challenges without breaking the bank.
