VITRO Inc., a subsidiary of ePLDT, has announced that its data center in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, the Philippines’ largest hyperscale data center, is expected to commence operations in July.
Situated on a five-hectare property in Laguna, VITRO Sta. Rosa (VSR) has been developed as a hyperscale facility boasting a capacity of 50 megawatts (MW). It features three fiber routes to ensure network diversity, resilience, and carrier-neutrality.
According to a statement from VITRO, clients are expected to start deploying equipment at the facility by June, with the Meralco switching station set to be activated in April. The roster of partners for VSR includes telcos and internet service providers (ISPs) such as Radius Telecoms Inc., Eastern Communications, InfiniVAN, and PLDT, with more partnerships to be announced soon.
The launch of VSR marks a significant milestone in ePLDT and VITRO’s efforts to enhance the nation’s digital infrastructure capacity, driving forward its digitalization agenda. Victor Genuino, President and Chief Executive Officer of ePLDT and VITRO Inc., emphasized their commitment to making VITRO Data Centers pivotal to the country’s digital economy.
Genuino also expressed optimism about attracting increased investment from hyperscale partners with the debut of VSR, catering to the escalating demand for data center services across both private and public sectors. He highlighted the opportunity to position the Philippines as a leading transit and hyperscale hub in Asia.
