Vantage Data Centers, a global hyperscale data center provider, and Altarea, a low carbon urban transformation group, have signed a partnership to develop an AI and cloud data center campus in France. The project is expected to become one of the largest data center campuses in the country.
In a press release, Altarea revealed that the campus will be built on land located near Bordeaux, France, and the company has secured a 400MW power connection with a French utility, aiming to support faster deployment and respond to rising AI and cloud computing demand.
This is Vantage’s first entry into the French market and continues its expansion across EMEA, where it currently operates in nine markets.
David Howson, President of Vantage Data Centers, EMEA, said, “By combining our global expertise with Altarea’s local insight, we are well positioned to meet the evolving requirements of these hyperscale and AI customers, we look forward to bolstering France’s digital infrastructure capabilities that will support the country’s European and international edge.”
The project also fits within Altarea’s growing data center development pipeline.
Alain Taravella, Executive Founder and CEO, Altarea, said, “This initiative is an important milestone for Altarea’s data center strategy. As presented during Choose France, we are committed to supporting the growing need of digital infrastructure in France.”
Baptiste Borezée, Managing Director, Altarea, said, “We are pleased to partner with Vantage Data Centers, a global leader in digital infrastructure with more than 40 hyperscale campuses and 9GW of power capacity, with the view to significantly accelerate the completion of this project.”
