UpCloud, a European provider of cloud services, has launched a new data center in Copenhagen, expanding its global network and increasing capacity in the Nordic region. This addition to UpCloud’s existing European infrastructure aims to support low-latency workloads across Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and the Baltic states.

The data center is located in Ballerup,15 kilometers (9.32 miles) from central Copenhagen, and provides an additional option for meeting data locality and governance requirements within the EU.

“Denmark has long been a hub of innovation and vital for connectivity across the Nordics and continental Europe. Adding Copenhagen to our growing list of locations is a strategic move that delivers immediate benefits,” said the company in an official statement.

The facility operates entirely on renewable energy, and Copenhagen introduces a new geodiverse site for disaster recovery and redundancy strategies, offering separation from UpCloud’s other major European locations. The Copenhagen site aims to offer customers lower latency, regional redundancy, and greater data control.

UpCloud manages the operation and maintenance of the server environment and is responsible for all data processing at the site. UpCloud’s Copenhagen data center site offers access to the same infrastructure features available in other UpCloud locations, including MaxIOPS storage, current-generation CPUs, and fixed, transparent pricing. The company says customers will also receive the same 24/7 support for deploying and migrating workloads.

The launch is part of UpCloud’s broader Nordic expansion strategy as the company plans to open a data center in Norway, which would make it the only cloud provider offering native infrastructure across Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and Norway. With the addition of Copenhagen and the planned Norway launch, UpCloud is positioning its Nordic footprint as a multi-country platform for performance-sensitive and compliance-driven workloads in Northern Europe.
