According to a report earlier this week in the Australian Financial Review, the Australian digital infrastructure provider iseek is a possible target capital partner for the international infrastructure investor, Amber Infrastructure. Amber Infrastructure is based the UK and its portfolio already includes digital infrastructure such as fiber and data centers. In 2021, Amber Infrastructure acquired Greenergy – a data centre platform based in Central and Eastern Europe. In June of that year, Amber announced its first Australian digital infrastructure investment as it acquired a majority stake in iseek.
A timeline for the search for a capital partner and the of its launch has not been reported.
iseek operates data centres across Eastern Australia, including locations in Brisbane, Townsville, Sydney and Adelaide, Its data centres specialise in storing business-critical systems for a range of corporate, enterprise and government organisations. In September 2022, Amber acquired the South Australian data center operator YourDC, including its data centers in Adelaide, in 2022. YourDC’s founder Scott Hicks has been appointed as CEO of the combined businesses in February 2024.
Amber has stated its intention of further expanding its data center portfolio and the Australian Financial Review reports that the company is currently expanding its Brisbane facility.
