Global energy company, TotalEnergies and European data center operator, Data4, have signed a 10-year agreement for the supply of renewable electricity to Data4’s Spanish facilities. Beginning January 2026, TotalEnergies will provide 610 GWh of carbon-free power generated by wind and solar farms in Spain which have a combined capacity of 30 MW.

In a press release, both companies have marked the partnership as a significant step in their sustainability strategies. As the energy partner, TotalEnergies aids Data4’s industrial decarbonization commitment to power all its facilities with renewable energy.

Sophie Chevalier, Senior Vice President for Flexible Power & Integration at TotalEnergies, said, “We are delighted with this agreement with Data4, which demonstrates our ability to offer competitive and tailored electricity supply solutions to large industrial groups combining both renewable and flexible assets in the power sector”.

François Sterin, Chief Operating Officer of Data4, said, “This agreement reaffirms Data4’s commitment to renewable energy which is more crucial than ever as the race for AI accelerates.”

Data4 operates across six European countries and plans to invest nearly €2 billion (US $2.3 billion) by 2030 to expand its Spanish campuses. The demand for digital infrastructure is driven primarily by artificial intelligence. Spain’s total data center energy requirements is forecast to  triple in five years.

The agreement signifies the growing collaboration between energy providers and digital infrastructure companies amid Europe’s transition to a low-carbon economy.
