To promote Esports in Uttar Pradesh UP Govt signs an MOU with Garena

Garena, the game developer behind the Battle Royale game Free Fire, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Government of Uttar Pradesh to promote esports in the state. This partnership comes on the back of Uttar Pradesh being the first state in India to incorporate esports in its sports policy in March 2023. The state aims to engage in youth and develop the esports and games industry in the state as well as in India, as a complement to overall sports development and promotion of the digital industry.

This Strategic partnership between Garena and the Uttar Pradesh Government will promote esports in the state by using Yotta’s local data center infrastructure, which offers hyperscale tier IV Data center solutions in India. This partnership will aim to position Uttar Pradesh on the frontlines of esports.

Esports is getting quite a  recognition in India. Other states like Madhya Pradesh and Bihar have officially introduced esports in their states. Now the Uttar Pradesh government’s signing of an MOU with Garena is likely to grow esports in the country.
