TM Nxera has topped out its AI-ready data center in Iskandar Puteri, Johor, recently, its Linkedin post says. TM Nxera is a joint venture between Singtel through its data center arm, Nxera, and Telekom Malaysia (TM).
The data center was initially announced in June 2024 following which it broke ground in July of the same year. The first phase of the 280 MW campus is expected to be ready for service this year offering 64 MW. Early this year, Nxera signed a multi-year electricity supply agreement with Tenaga Nasional (TNB), Malaysia’s national electricity utility, securing 280MW of power for the data center.
The Tier 3 data center campus will use liquid cooling and will be built to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards. The firm also plans to expand submarine cable connectivity, enabling a vibrant digital ecosystem, according to Nxera’s website.
“Really happy to see the rapid, smooth and safe progress of the buildout of this large scale AI DC specially designed to host some of the most demanding AI workloads in the industry,” said Bill Chang, CEO of Nxera in his Linkedin post
In February, KKR and Singtel acquired a majority stake in Singapore-based data center player STT GDC for US$ 5.1 billion.
