TelkomGroup and Singtel Join Forces for Sustainable Hyperscale Data Centers

TelkomGroup has formed strategic collaboration with Singtel in building a Hyperscale Data Center in Batam with an investment value of $581 million. The development of HDC Batam uses renewable and environmentally friendly energy and adopts a multi-tier system.

During a recent visit to Telkom’s Hyperscale Data Center in Cikarang, Bogi Witjaksono, Telkom’s Director of Wholesale & International Service, highlighted the company’s vision. He emphasized the importance of solid business foundations, strategic partnerships, and reinforcing digital ecosystem capabilities.

Bogi explained that the construction of HDC Batam utilizes renewable energy, is environmentally friendly, and adopts a multi-tier system. Bogi believes that the focus on a strong business foundation, strategic partnerships with reliable partners, and the strengthening of digital ecosystem capacity and enrichment are solidifying steps to make Telkom’s data center a Sustainable Digital Ecosystem Hub in the regional and even global markets in the future.

Bogi mentioned three crucial aspects that companies possess in the data center business: seamless, connectivity, and eyeball. Seamless connectivity is achieved by connecting with all TelkomGroup data centers, including edge data centers. Connectivity refers to Hyperscale Data Center’s connection to TelkomGroup’s broadband backbone infrastructure. Finally, eyeball access to TelkomGroup’s business digital users.

Moreover, Bogi stated that TelkomGroup currently has 30 data center facilities (25 domestic and five international) spread across four countries (Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Timor Leste). TelkomGroup also supports the construction of a data center in the National Capital of the Nusantara (IKN) located in Sepaku, Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan Province.

Indonesia is a country with significant potential for digital economic growth. Thus, Indonesia is set to become the largest digital economy in Southeast Asia. The use and consumption of digital services are growing rapidly, requiring a robust digital ecosystem, including data centers, which are expected to grow significantly in the coming years.
