The T4 Group, a specialist data centre colocation provider has purchased land at an unspecified location in Invercargill, Southland.
While no details of the price paid or site specifications are yet available, the purchase brings one step closer the company’s intention to build what it says will be New Zealand’s only Tier 4 data centre. Additionally, T4 have stated their intention for the new facility to set a new benchmark in terms of environmental responsibility through a number of cutting-edge “green” best practices.
According to T4 Group CEO Dean Addie, the data centre will offer state-of-the-art colocation services while acting as a catalyst for driving local economic growth and environmental stewardship. The development is expected to deliver significant employment opportunities through the construction process together with high-value job opportunities through the facility’s operation.
Addie stated that the company was starting its detailed engineering in the next couple of weeks, and it was planning to have the first stage completed in just under a year, by March 31, 2025.
