The T4 Group, a New Zealand-based colocation services provider has acquired Kyndryl’s East Tamaki data centre. According to the T4 Group, the acquisition represents a significant expansion of the company’s national data centre footprint. The value of the acquisition has not yet been disclosed. This expansion will be taken further with the development of T4’s Southland hyperscale data centre which is due for construction this year.
The T4 Group has been making use of the East Tamaki data centre since March 2022 when an exclusive agreement was entered into with Kyndryl. T4 stresses that the acquisition will fit in with existing operations and support the development of its fully sustainable strategy. Both parties indicated that they will work to ensure a smooth transition for clients of the data centre.
T4 Group CEO Dean Addie stressed his company’s commitment to national digital resilience and sustainability:

Kyndryl New Zealand managing director Audrey Campbell-Frear welcomed the move:
“We are pleased T4 Group have an unwavering commitment to excellence, and we are excited to build on our long-standing partnership with T4 as they increase their presence in the East Tamaki data centre and provide high quality data centre services to local customers,”
The data centre is equipped to enable cloud services as it features the latest in network connectivity, and with capacity allowing T4 to service businesses of all sizes. The T4 Group said that security was a paramount consideration. The new facility is securely situated with controlled access points, a dedicated security control room and round-the-clock support for access and monitoring. The facility also prioritises energy efficiency, green technologies, scalability and advanced power and cooling solutions.
