Substrate AI, a Spanish company specialising in artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced technologies, has announced the incorporation of AI European Infrastructure SOCIMI, a real estate investment company established to develop the infrastructure required for its AI projects. The first project to be undertaken through the vehicle will be the company’s planned development in Talavera de la Reina, Spain.
According to a Substrate AI press release, the SOCIMI is intended to separate the management of real estate assets tied to technology infrastructure from Substrate AI’s core artificial intelligence operations as part of the company’s strategy to expand AI infrastructure in Europe.
The structure will develop, acquire, promote, and manage assets such as data centers, advanced computing facilities, and other infrastructure supporting its AI ecosystem, while providing a platform for future infrastructure projects, including new data centers and AI Factories. It is also designed to attract infrastructure and real estate investors by allowing them to participate in the returns generated through leasing these assets.
Lorenzo Serratosa, CEO of Substrate AI, “With this step, we are launching, through a real estate vehicle, the deployment of Substrate AI’s infrastructure, with Talavera de la Reina as our flagship project. This infrastructure will support our clients with a focus on the sale of tokens generated by our Orion LLMs, rather than the sale of computing hours, which we believe adds no value and is increasingly becoming a commodity.”
Substrate AI is among the investors in SOCIMI while the new entity will oversee the real estate assets associated with infrastructure developments, Substrate AI will remain responsible for technology development, the operation of its AI platform and the delivery of AI-based services through its Serenity ecosystem.
The company’s project in Talavera de la Reina is expected to serve as the first development carried out through the new vehicle. Substrate AI also plans to use the SOCIMI for future AI infrastructure projects as it expands its network of facilities.
