STT GDC Philippines has reported an 83-percent rack utilization rate across its operations, highlighting the efficiency and reliability of its services amidst increasing demand for data center capacities. To address this growing need, the company has announced plans for an expansion program aimed at boosting its IT capacity by 600 percent, increasing from 22 megawatts to over 150 MW.

The company aims to achieve 33 MW by 2025 and 52 MW by 2026, signaling significant growth for STT GDC Philippines. According to Carlo Malana, President and CEO of STT GDC Philippines, the current capacity of the country stands at around 60 megawatts.

Therefore, their upcoming 124-megawatt project in Fairview, along with the six megawatts from STT Cavite, is expected to position the Philippines as a prominent data center hub in Southeast Asia.

Malana believes that this move reflects the Philippines’ readiness to accommodate global cloud providers and offer local data management solutions to support the country’s digital transformation goals in the coming years.

This development is anticipated to attract more international businesses seeking reliable data management solutions, fostering a digital ecosystem conducive to economic growth and digital transformation.

The company currently operates five data centers nationwide, with two new facilities, STT Fairview and STT Cavite 2, expected to commence operations by 2025, collectively adding 130 MW of IT capacity (124 MW in Fairview and 6 MW in Cavite). STT GDC Philippines also expects long-term benefits from these expansions, including the creation of high-skilled jobs and the stimulation of local economies.
