STT GDC Philippines Anticipates Soaring Demand for Data Centers in 2024

ST Telemedia Global Data Centres Philippines (STT GDC) projects a sustained surge in demand for data centers in the country throughout the upcoming year, driven by an increasing number of companies adapting to digital trends.

According to Carlo Malana, President of STT GDC Philippines, the data center industry has been witnessing consistent and remarkable growth, propelled by the global escalation in demand for data storage.

The proliferation of digital content, including streaming videos, social media uploads, and app downloads, underscores the indispensable role of data centers as the backbone of the cloud infrastructure, essential for advancing digitization.

Malana highlighted a significant shift in the Philippines, where approximately 85 percent of businesses are anticipated to fully transition to the cloud by 2025, as indicated by a survey commissioned by Alibaba Cloud.

Additionally, the International Data Corporation, a global market research firm, reported that the Philippines achieved the highest growth in the cloud market in 2022.

Looking ahead to 2024 and beyond, the demand for data storage is predicted to accelerate further. To meet this burgeoning need, STT GDC Philippines is proactively expanding its capacity, not only locally but also across the region.

Presently, the company operates five data center facilities in Makati, Quezon City, and Cavite, boasting a combined capacity of 22MW. However, with two major builds initiated this year, STT GDC Philippines aims to fortify its infrastructure to accommodate the escalating demand for data storage services in the years to come.
