One of Singapore’s four major telcos, StarHub, has selected Denodo to modernise their IT landscape through data virtualisation.
StarHub will use the Denodo Platform to provide secure and accelerated data access to business users.
“We wanted to provide our business users with relevant and timely data via self-service capabilities to improve operational effectiveness and reduce reliance on our IT team,” said Yaw Yee Kee, the Chief Information Officer at StarHub.
The Denodo data virtualisation platform enables a single data delivery layer and the discontinuation of their shadow IT systems, unifying cloud and on-premise data.
“We want to establish better data governance through modernising our data management and optimize our data infrastructure cost,” added Mr. Yee Kee.
Denodo was said to be the only data integration technology that met all of StarHub’s digital transformation needs in performance, scalability, security and real-time integration at a significantly low infrastructure cost.
“We are proud to be working with StarHub to help them establish a secure access to integrated business views of different data across the enterprise,” said Ravi Shankar, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Denodo.
Recently, StarHub was hit with a $210,000 fine by the Infocomm Media Development Authority for broadband disruptions affecting Singaporeans during the circuit breaker period.
This was caused by a configuration error during a planned network migration exercise.
StarHub committed to implementing measures that will prevent future incidents, which could have included the introduction of the Denodo Platform.
