ST Engineering marked the groundbreaking of its fourth data center in Jalan Boon Lay. This seven-story facility will significantly expand the company’s IT capacity, reaching over 30MW across its Singapore locations upon completion in 2026.
The data center represents a $120 million investment over three years. Senior Minister of State Low Yen Ling from the Ministry of Trade and Industry officiated at the ceremony.
The new facility prioritizes cutting-edge security and energy efficiency. Designed with robust physical and digital safeguards for clients’ IT and operational technology (OT), the center meets stringent international standards like ISO 27001 for cybersecurity and ISO 42001 for responsible AI development.
Security measures include redundancy, business continuity plans, and data protection protocols. Despite these features, the data center achieves an impressive Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.25, exceeding the BCA-IMDA Green Mark Platinum standard for energy efficiency.
The data center is designed to accommodate demanding workloads, including high-power artificial intelligence (AI) and graphic processing unit (GPU) applications exceeding 20 kilowatts per rack. This ensures adaptability for future advancements in AI and GPU technology through partnerships with industry leaders.
Furthermore, to support these workloads, the facility will feature a variety of cooling systems, including ST Engineering’s proprietary Airbitat DC Cooling System, alongside liquid and immersion cooling solutions. Additionally, extensive solar panel installations will significantly reduce reliance on the grid.
