IOT in Thailand

IoT represents a powerful disruptive force because it consist of many technology which will boost up future innovation and economic growth. Thailand 4.0 initiatives, such as Smart City and Industry 4.0, are focused on boosting adoption of I.O.T. The government also established the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA) under the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES), which collaborates with the private sector and numerous partner organizations, including agencies under the Ministry of Industry, to establish an IoT Institute and Thailand Digital Valley in the digital industry promotion zone (EECd), located in the Eastern Economic Corridor area.

The IoT market in Thailand is forecast to grow, driven mostly by consumer-related IoT, rising to US $2.19 billion by 2030. From a baseline of US $120 million in 2018, that represents a CAGR of more than 27 percent. This rapid growth, the highest among all Smart Electronics segments, makes the IoT market a huge opportunity. A recent survey ranked Thailand highest among ASEAN countries in corporate IoT implementation.

QUANG TRUNG SOFTWARE CITY (QTSC)

Founded on March 16th 2001, Quang Trung Software City (QTSC) has been developed as a software city model in a total area of ​​43 ha. After 19 years of development, the park has attracted 165 ICT companies including 5 large-sized companies with over 1,000 employees. More than 250 IT products, services and solutions have been deployed and gone to market. With great efforts and contributions, QTSC has truly become a “home” for 21,831 people studying and working regularly.

Until now, QTSC has been the first and largest software park in Vietnam. On March 3rd, 2016, the Decision No 333/QD-TTg was issued by the Prime Minister on establishing QTSC chain model. As a breakthrough in developing the Vietnam software industry and startup community, this project has emphasized and highlighted the existing roles and brands of the two members: QTSC and Information Technology Park – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-ITP). On December 28th, 2019, the QTSC chain continued to admit the Thua Thien Hue Information Technology Center (HueCIT) as new member, while Mekong Innovation Technology Park (Mekong ITP) will join the Chain in 2020 as expected.

Established in 2002, Iasa is the preeminent knowledge-based association focused on the IT Architecture profession. Malaysia Chapter Persatuan Arkitek Perisian Dan Teknologi Maklumat Malaysia or Iasa Malaysia is the local chapter of the Iasa Global and is part of Iasa Asia Pacific’s architect’s communities. Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa)

Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa) was established by virtue of the Digital Development for Economy and Society Act B.E. 2560 (A.D. 2017) promulgated on 23 January 2017, the second year in the Reign of King Rama X to take the role of a government agency, whose status was a legal entity and not a government service according to the National Government Organization Act or a state enterprise according to the Budget Procedure Act and none other. The agency aimed to support and promote the development of digital industry and innovation, support and promote digital technology adoption which benefit the national economy, society, culture, and security according to Article 34 of the Act. A Commission, whose members had been appointed by the Minister of Digital Economy and Society, was authorized to regulate and ensure the agency’s performance.
